A manutenção da chama por mais tempo no recipiente que contém as folhas significa que elas sintetizaram o carbono da fumaça e liberaram oxigênio, o que fez com que a vela persistisse acesa, apesar de a vasilha estar tampada. No entanto o homem tem feito o pior para si e o o meio: está aumentando a quantidade de fumaça e diminuindo a de folhas.
With this simple experiment, it is possible to understand the role of plants in the sequestration of carbon gas in the atmosphere and their respective importance in air purification and climate regulation. Maintaining the flame for a longer time in the container containing the leaves means that they synthesized the carbon from the smoke and released oxygen, which caused the candle to remain lit despite the container being covered. However, man has done the worst for himself and the environment: the amount of smoke is increasing and the number of leaves is decreasing.
